Worming and flea treatments
Parasite control is straightforward once it is part of the monthly routine, but the products and intervals must suit your puppy's age and weight.
Worming
Puppies are wormed regularly from a young age, and your puppy's record shows what they have had. Continue with a vet-recommended puppy wormer at the intervals your vet advises — usually monthly until six months old.
Fleas and ticks
Only use products licensed for your puppy's weight and age. Many adult spot-on treatments are unsuitable for young puppies, so always confirm with your vet before applying anything.
Never share treatments
Do not use a product intended for another dog, and never use a dog product on a cat. Some flea treatments are toxic to cats and to certain breeds.
Check after walks
Ticks are common in long grass and woodland. Check your puppy after every walk and remove any tick promptly with a proper tick tool, or ask your vet to show you how.
