Vaccinations and microchipping
Vaccination protects your puppy at the point where their natural immunity begins to fade, and microchipping is a legal requirement in England.
What happens before they leave
Your puppy is vet-checked, microchipped and started on their vaccination course before going home. Their record travels with them, so your own vet can see exactly what has been given and when.
Completing the course
Your vet will complete the vaccination course, usually with a second dose a few weeks after the first. Keep your puppy away from unvaccinated dogs and areas used heavily by unknown dogs until the course is complete and your vet gives the go-ahead.
Socialisation still matters
While the course is being completed, carry your puppy in safe areas and invite calm, vaccinated dogs and people to meet them at home. The socialisation window closes long before the vaccination course finishes, so do not wait to start.
Microchipping
All dogs in England must be microchipped and their keeper's details kept up to date. Your puppy is chipped before leaving us — remember to update the registered details if you move or change telephone number.
Boosters
Follow your vet's advice on the first booster at twelve months and thereafter. Vaccination schedules vary, and your vet knows your dog and your local risk.
